General terms and conditions of business

The tariff is based on the language group and the degree of difficulty of the text to be translated. The following categories for degree of difficulty apply:

Cat. A: Correspondence texts with no specialist terminology
Cat. B: General subject texts
Cat. C: Difficult subject texts, research reports, complex contracts, advertising texts (slogans based on the time taken)

Allocation of the tariff category is carried out by Consultra.

The prices per line apply for combinations with German, French, Italian and English. The tariff category corresponds to that of the language allocated to the highest degree of difficulty. Other language combinations attract a 50 to 100% additional charge.

The basis for calculation is the standard line of 50-55 characters. Partial lines are calculated as full lines even if they only contain figures. The translation text created by Consultra is the definitive one for invoicing.

Express orders, hard-to-decipher text manuscripts, etc. attract an additional fee of 50-100%.

Prices are as agreed for interpreting, translation at the client’s premises, layout and printing. Prices for editing, ok to print proofreading, editing, translating tables, lists, advertising slogans, etc. are based on the time taken.

The line price for translations does not include additional costs such as telephone calls, carriage, postage, archive copies, working copies, courier taxis, notarisation, etc. However, additional costs are part of the order and will be invoiced separately. For printed texts (Cat. C) proofreading of the galley proof is compulsory.

Quotes generally contain ballpark prices (+/-15%) without additional costs.

The translation order is considered to be granted once the documents for translation have been forwarded. Incidentally, declarations must be in written format to be applicable in law. Named orders granted to third parties, which are not accepted by third parties, count as being granted from the client direct.

The texts to be translated will be treated confidentially by Consultra.

Guaranteed delivery terms must be expressly arranged. Delivery terms will be extended reasonably if hindrances arise, which cannot be prevented despite taking the greatest care. Such hindrances are - the occurrence of force majeure, significant disruption to operations, accidents, illness, etc. The order is fulfilled once the translation is ready to be sent. Delivery of the translation using data carriers, by fax or by e-mail, etc. is only carried out if expressly requested and at the exclusive risk of the client.

Complaints must be made within 20 days of completion of the order. Consultra is only liable expressly for the original translation text and for compensation in kind. Any other liability is excluded. Deficiencies in parts or partial deliveries do not justify rejection of the entire delivery.

Accounts receivable from Consultra are due net within 30 days of the invoice date. Where payment is delayed, Consultra reserves the right to immediately discontinue other services. We reserve the right to make alterations to the tariffs and to the general terms and conditions.

The court of jurisdiction and place of execution is Zurich.
